Arc-en-Ciel Nursery School in Mouda
The kindergarten was built in 2001 thanks to a grant from the Ivrea CVS to facilitate early schooling for children from the Reception Center and their peers from the villages of Mouda, Moussourtouk and Sarmouizouigui.
The building consists of two large classrooms, an office, a veranda, and is situated on a fully fenced plot with a playground. Every year during the rainy season, minor maintenance work is carried out on the premises and furniture renewal as needed.
Children are divided into two classes: the small section for 3- to 4-year-olds and the large section for 5- to 6-year-olds.
The conduct of classes is ensured by three teachers including a principal, following the ministerial schedule delivered annually in Cameroon’s kindergartens and is carried out according to different types of activities:
the socio-educational and cultural animations
education and early literacy
The practical activities
Recreational activities and parties
Despite raising awareness locally and nationally about the importance of early schooling, there are still many families in rural areas who perceive the cost of enrolling young children in school as high. Thus, the tendency remains to prefer direct inseriemnto elementary school, despite the fact that this entails slowing down the learning process.
